Gluten Free Diet Books and Factsheet

"About us..."

Well, "us" is a bit of a misnomer, really. There's just me, Frann Leach, currently living in Edinburgh, Scotland, though I was born in London.

I'm a geek. Well, I think that's what you would call me, anyway.

Just to give you some background, I'm a single mother (although both my children are grown up) and I have been addicted to computers, and worked with them, for well over 20 years.

I have a range of sites which at first glance appear to have little in common, but they (and I) are driven by an early vision of the 'world computer system of the future' (which is now with us - in its early stages, at least). My aim on all my sites is to provide genuinely useful information, presented in a usable form.

This site arose after I found out I was gluten intolerant, and tried to adjust to that quite life-changing fact. As my father was a chef, I have always been a bit of a foodie, and do a lot of cooking. But, of course, almost every meal would contain some gluten, one way or another. Even something quite simple, like gravy (which I like to thicken, as I prefer it that way) became a problem. Pasta, which is so healthy, we are told, is a nono for the gluten-intolerant, and eating my curry with a chapati or some nan bread was no longer an option.

After a while, you get fed up with not being able to eat pizza, eggs on toast, or almost any type of takeaway (Pie? Battered fish? Unbattered sausages? Sandwich? Ack, I guess I will have a salad, oh, wait, it's got pasta in it...)

So here is what I am finding out, and it will most likely grow along the way, because I love food, and there is no way I am going to settle for the majority of the readymade gluten free products out there - which in my opinion are over-priced, vile tasting and would be better put straight in the trash.
